Management of born-digital content requires new policies and standards, as well as expertise and cooperation within current archival practices, especially in the complex field of architecture. A series of public programs, organized by SALT Research Architecture and Design Archive and with the support of Kalebodur, will explore processes in managing, archiving, and preserving born-digital architectural materials throughout this year. These programs at SALT Galata will be accompanied by seminars and workshops at selected universities and architecture offices, led by senior archivists from SALT Research following their professional visits to various international institutions in the field.

The first program at SALT Galata on May 24 will focus on the transfer of MVRDV’s digital archive to Het Nieuwe Instituut. Panelists Suzanne Mulder, Annet Dekker, and Jan Knikker will address the issues at stake during the acquisition and management of a born-digital architectural collection, while discussing the collaborations among curators, architects, and researhers in this context.

The panel will be held in English with simultaneous translation to Turkish.
