Te Henua e Nnoho [There Once was an Island] (2010)
Director: Briar March
80 minutes
English, Takuu, Tok Pisin; English subtitles

A climate change documentary following the lives of three people on a remote Pacific Atoll as their way of life comes under threat, Te Henua e Nnoho [There Once was an Island] (2010) reveals the human impact of what is fast becoming a global disaster, while depicting life on Takuu with anthropological sensitivity and depth. Once wildly debated, extended agreement on the true impact of climate change has affected everything from global food production to coastal property sales, causing obvious and direct harm to the people of Takuu. As more locals are forced to abandon traditional activities and leave the island for opportunities elsewhere, the pressures on their culture is unavoidable.
