Mophradat's Arts Fellows Program

SALT has become one of the partner institutions of Mophradat’s Arts Fellows for the 2019 winter. The fellow appointed by Mophradat for SALT’s Office of Useful Art will conduct research on the examples of useful art in countries where Arabic is the official language, in collaboration with SALT team.

Established in partnership with the Asociación de Arte Útil and opened in September 2017 at SALT Galata, the Office of Useful Art focuses on questioning the challenges the museums are currently facing, and also on expanding the potential of co-learning among the institution and the users. Centered around the notion of “arte útil,” which roughly translates to “useful art,” the Office is committed to provide contemporary and historical case studies from Turkey and its surroundings for the Arte Útil Archive.

The upcoming year, a group of researchers, including Mophradat’s arts fellow, will explore new case studies in their respective countries through a historical survey of practices especially in art, architecture, education, and civil society.
