Workshop IV

Salt is hosting an exhibition organized by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) School of Architecture and Planning. Centering on the ecology of the Ayamama River in Istanbul, the project invites the public to reflect and engage in open dialogue on sustainable pathways to a more resilient urban future.

Exploring critical intersections of climate change, urban sprawl, flooding, and decommissioned infrastructure, this exhibition emerges from interdisciplinary research led by Prof. Dr. Rafi Segal in collaboration with climate scientists, urban planners, landscape designers, and architects.

Designed and curated by Rafi Segal and Selin Şahin, Ayamama Swa(m)p translates academic research into a public experience through a collection of three pieces: a large map outlining the features of Ayamama River corridors; a film narrated through the eyes of birds flying over the city; a set of silkscreen prints by artist Marisa Morán Jahn depicting the endangered endemic plant Allium Istanbulense.

The exhibition will be on view from November 26 to December 22 in Workshop IV at Salt Galata.
