About Vasil Vingas
Vasil Vingas was born in Yeniköy in 1912 to a Greek family that immigrated to Istanbul from Chios Island. After graduating from the Greek-French High School in Beyoğlu, he worked as a math teacher at the Phanar Greek Orthodox College in the 1920s. In the early 1930s, he enrolled in the Department of Tezyinat [Ornamentation] at the State Academy of Fine Arts in Istanbul. He later transferred to the Department of Architecture and graduated in 1937. Vingas continued his professional career until the 1970s, primarily designing residential buildings. He passed away in Yeniköy in 1981.
