SALT Interpretation will organize exhibition critiques for college students during the exhibition Hassan Khan. In these events, led by a different artist each month, participants will explore Hassan Khan’s works, and will also be engaged in a discussion centered on the artist’s practice.

To join the first tour led by the artist, Köken Ergun, please email your first name/last name, the name of your university and program to yorumlama@saltonline.org.

Participants are asked to write a critical review on social media sites such as Facebook, blog or personal website, and share its link on Twitter by adding @SALT_Online to their tweets.

The tours will be held in Turkish, and are limited to 15 participants.

Köken Ergun
Born in İstanbul, in 1976, Köken Ergun studied acting at the İstanbul University, and completed his post-graduate diploma degree in Classics at King’s College London, followed by an M.A. degree in Visual Communication Design at the İstanbul Bilgi University. After working with the American theater director Robert Wilson, Ergun became more involved with contemporary art, especially video and performance. His works has been exhibited internationally at institutions including Platform Garanti (İstanbul), Stedelijk Museum Bureau Amsterdam, KIASMA Museum of Contemporary Arts (Helsinki), Palais de Tokyo (Paris), Digital ArtLab (Tel Aviv), Casino Luxembourg, Heidelberger Kunstverein, and Kunsthalle Winterthur. Ergun’s video works are included in public collections such as the Centre Georges Pompidou (Paris), and the Greek National Museum of Contemporary Art (Athens). Ergun, who focuses on rituals in his works, has recently been collaborating with ethnologists extending his practice to academia. He is currently writing his PhD thesis at the Interart Graduate College of the Freie University on “Rituals of Isolation: Emotional Bonding in Wedding Ceremonies of the Turkish-German Community in Berlin.”
