French Levantine architect Alexandre Vallauri designed the original building of Salt Galata, which was inaugurated in 1892, to house the Imperial Ottoman Bank. The building is a landmark unique to İstanbul with surprisingly distinct architectural styles— neo-classical and neo-oriental—applied on opposite façades.

With its unique location overlooking the historical peninsula, exceptional architectural features and technical equipment, Salt Galata lends itself comprehensively to local and international meetings, conferences, press previews, launches, and cocktail receptions. Guests are inspired by not only the impressive architecture and view of the building but also its atmosphere, which encourages research and culture.
