La Collectionneuse [The Collector] (1967)
Director: Éric Rohmer
89 minutes
French; English and Turkish subtitles

Daniel (Daniel Pommereulle), a single artist, and Adrien (Patrick Bauchau), a soon-to-be-married dilettantish art dealer, go to a seventeenth-century villa on the Riviera for a relaxing summer getaway. But their idyll is disturbed by the presence of the bohemian Haydée (Haydée Politoff), accused of being a “collector” of men. The natural splendors of blue water, rocky shore, bright sky, and hilly terrain provide a serene setting for the eternal struggle of man versus man, man versus woman, and man versus his own worst instincts as Daniel and Adrien vie for Haydée in a most dignified way.

The film program What day is it today? is a parallel event of the exhibition SUMMER HOMES: Claiming the Coast which is on view at SALT Beyoğlu until November 16.
