What do progressive future intelligent software models see when they glimpse the possible futures and actions that humans may take to avert these crises? Anthony Townsend’s talk will explore how the new aesthetic informs our understanding of future states of being, and how the human state and machine legibility will be appear in that future.

Anthony Townsend is a writer and consultant in the field of future of cities and information technology. Based in New York, he is founder of urban planning studio Bits and Atoms, and author of Smart Cities: Big Data, Civic Hackers, and the Quest for A New Utopia (New York: W. W. Norton & Company, 2013).
