Industrial designer George Nelson coordinated a trade fair for Russia in 1959 as a platform to display current American products. Everything from automatic vacuum cleaners to refrigerators, Polaroid cameras to the newly pioneered videotape, and even books not available under Stalinist rule were represented in the American National Exhibition. The documentary portrays a visual of this event that enabled Russians their first glimpse beyond the Iron Curtain.
