Dancer Cansu Ergin, cellist Gülşah Erol and def player Sami Hosseini will perform for the first time at SALT Galata. An interdisciplinary composition, Authentic will investigate the relationship between the cello, the def, and movement. In parallel to the meanings embodied by the word authentic, the improvisational performance will converge dance and music in their original forms.

Organized as part of Long Thursday, the program is open to all.

Cansu Ergin pursues her graduate studies at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University’s Modern Dance Department. A member of DEPARTS, a contemporary dance network in Europe, Ergin also teaches modern dance at Yıldız Technical University, and Dokuz Eylül University.

Gülşah Erol is a cellist in the Anadolu Symphony Orchestra. Involved in theatre, cinema, and video-art projects as a musician and composer, Erol also continues to perform with Birds Ensemble, and with ABSTRA “free music, avant-garde jazz” collective.

Sami Hosseini began teaching def lessons upon moving to Izmir from Iran in 2012. He is the author of the book DEF Metodu (Duvar Yayınları: 2016). Hosseini continues to perform on stage with musical group Kian Band, and also organizes concerts with Ahura Ritim Topluluğu, which he established in 2013.
