Performance: Hum
Long Thursday
Salt Galata
February 22, 2018 20.30
at SALT Galata on Long Thursday
An improvisational electroacoustic performance by Arda Ertem and Ege Kanar, Hum, reinterprets some of the everyday sounds. Working on live audio samples recorded in a house and its surroundings, the duo explores how these sounds are associated to personal connotations, expectations, or anxieties: the sound of water boiling in a teapot, a moving elevator, the squeak of a garden gate, a song playing in a dolmuş, a buzzing office fridge, overheard dialogues, chiming school bells, the clinking of cutlery, a neighbor coughing, a rolling garbage truck, barking dogs, and squawking seagulls…
Prior to the performance in Workshop II-III, typeface designer Jean-Baptiste Levée will give a talk titled Of curvatures, straight lines and light: when is type not type? in the Auditorium at 19.00, as part of the ISType Mono program series.
Located on floor -1, Refik Anadol’s installation Virtual Archive is open until 22.00. Special discounts are available at the Robinson Crusoe 389 bookstore
