Visiting a Contemporary
Art Museum under Hypnosis
Salt Beyoğlu
May 6 – May 29, 2011
Friday, Saturday, Sunday 12.00-15.00, throughout May
Christoph Keller’s practice was sited in the first stages of research for the Laboratory ars viva 2010/11 exhibition - specifically, his Cloudbuster Project, a video documentation that can be viewed in the exhibition’s Interpretation Pack at saltonline.org.
In tandem with Laboratory, SALT is presenting another of Keller’s works, Visiting a Contemporary Art Museum under Hypnosis (2006), which documents Keller’s wanderings in an imaginary art museum, describing what he sees while under hypnosis. Keller views this work as an inverse reflection on the possibility of what an “artists’ laboratory”, as opposed to an “artists’ studio”, is or could be.
Christoph Keller has shown his work extensively, including in solo exhibitions in Berlin and Tel Aviv. In 2008, he was awarded the Berlin Senate and BM-Art Contemporary residency in Istanbul. He is currently based in Berlin.
