Dr. Ayhan Dede conducts research on marine mammals. Graduating from İstanbul University with a degree in fisheries engineering, he completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in marine biology at the Institute of Science, İstanbul University. Dede works as an assistant professor in the Marine Biology department, Faculty of Fisheries, İstanbul University, and is a volunteer of the Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TUDAV). He has been monitoring the movements of dolphins in the Bosphorus using the passive acoustic method.

Dr. Arda M. Tonay is a cetologist focusing on whales, dolphins and porpoises. He graduated from İstanbul University in 1999 with a degree in fisheries engineering and completed his M.Sc. and Ph.D. in the marine biology program at the Institute of Science, İstanbul University. A research assistant in the university’s Marine Biology department, Faculty of Fisheries, Tonay also volunteers for the Turkish Marine Research Foundation (TUDAV). He is currently studying cetacean bycatch and strandings on the Western Black Sea coast.
