A playful and engaging story telling by Donna Haraway—a feminist thinker, a historian of science, a science-fiction enthusiast, and the author of the groundbreaking essay “A Cyborg Manifesto”—on her life, influences, and ideas…. First screening of Fabrizio Terranova’s 2016 documentary film in Turkey is organized by Collective Çukurcuma in collaboration with SALT.

Becoming known in the 1980s through her work on gender, identity, and technology, Haraway breaks down the boundaries among humans, animals, and machines while challenging gender essentialism and questioning the underlying assumptions of humanity’s fascination with primates through a post-colonial lens. Terranova’s film, shot at Haraway’s home in California, is structured around lively discussions on many subjects including capitalism and the anthropocene, science fiction writing as philosophical text, humans and dogs, and the suppression of women’s writing along with a series of illustrations and animations. Donna Haraway: Story Telling for Earthly Survival allows this highly original thinker to paint her mind in her own way.

The screening of the 81 minutes film (English with Turkish subtitles) on October 4 in the Walk-in Cinema at SALT Beyoğlu is open to all and free.
