Based on a novella by Elinor Glyn, whose romantic fictions were considered scandalous for its time, the film features Clara Bow as the young shop assistant Betty Lou, who is determined to marry her boss.

Accompanying the last week of Nur Koçak’s Our Blissful Souvenirs exhibition, 6 Films 6 Women presents the 20th century’s cinema classics where women are regarded as objects of desire for male gaze as described by Laura Mulvey in the 1975 article “Visual Pleasure and Narrative Cinema.” Comprising five Hollywood films and El Kızı [The Stranger’s Daughter], a 1966 Turkish film adapted from Orhan Kemal’s same-titled novel, the screening program is free and open to all.

In accordance with Article 7 of Law No. 5224 amended on 18.01.2019,
films that have not been assessed and classified by the General Directorate of Cinema, Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Republic of Turkey, can only be screened under the classification of 18+ at festivals, special screenings or similar culture and arts events.
