Director: Ali Jaberansari
102 minutes

A dark comedy-drama by Ali Jaberansari, Tehran shahr-e eshgh [Tehran: City of Love] tells a bittersweet tale of three introverts, who face their own challenges and truth while longing for love…
Working as a receptionist at a beauty clinic and unhappy with her body, Mina creates a fake persona to pursue attractive men that she thinks she could never be with. An ex-bodybuilding champion who becomes a personal trainer of a young man, Hessam gradually begins to second-guess his identity and finds himself in a struggle against the social norms. Singing in funerals to make a living, Vahid feels so hopeless in relationships and decides to try his luck at being a wedding singer.
Set in a city where plastic surgery and bodybuilding are on the rise, this 2018 film on love, alienation, and relationships combines social commentary with humor, painting a picture of modern Tehran in all its absurdities and charm.
“At Home” films will be streamed at saltonline.org between September 24 and November 29, and will only be accessible to online audiences in Turkey. Thursday Cinema has been supported by Garanti BBVA Mortgage since 2014.
