Net2Ist January Meeting:
StartSomeGood.com

January 25, 2012 19.00
SALT Beyoğlu, Walk-in Cinema
Net2Ist January Meeting will host the co-founder of StartSomeGood.com initiative, Tom Dawkins, through Skype. Start Some Good taps into the power of the crowd, allowing social entrepreneurs to ask for small amounts of money from lots of different people — rather than hope for one lump sum. The crowd funding model is becoming increasingly well-established worldwide, especially in the arts; Start Some Good believes it is an important strategy for supporting the launch and development of social impact initiatives. In this meeting, Tom will describe his personal journey with StartSomeGood.com and offer a broad picture of crowd funding models. The session will be followed by a question and answer session with the audience.
Tom Dawkins is a member of YAN (Youth Action Net) and founder of non-profit Vibewire Youth Media Inc. After eight years building Vibewire, in 2008, Dawkins handed over the organization to new leadership and went traveling, ending up in Washington, DC working for Ashoka: Innovators for the Public. His experiences with YAN Fellows and other young changemakers fuels his belief that the world is full of passionate people with great ideas ready to make a difference.
