SALT Interpretation – İstanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education Partnership
On January 18, 2012, SALT Interpretation signed a protocol with the İstanbul Provincial Directorate of National Education (İl MEM). This new collaboration means that cultural programming for the city’s high school students will continue to grow at both SALT Beyoğlu and SALT Galata.

Present at the event were İl MEM Deputy Director Şerafettin Turan, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Garanti Kültür Nafiz Karadere, and students from Beyoğlu Kız Teknik & Meslek High School and Üsküdar Lions Elementary. Following the signing, students participated in a series of activities at SALT Galata, including a workshop for artist Michael Rakowitz’s For what it’s worth… project, an introduction to SALT Research with librarian Sezin Romi, and a tour of the Scramble for the Past: A Story of Archaeology in the Ottoman Empire, 1753-1914 exhibition and Ottoman Bank Museum.

SALT Interpretation is free, and seeks to engage young people through exhibition tours, moving image programs and artist-led collaborative projects. SALT also creates online curriculum guides (Interpretation Packs), which feature discussion topics, activities and educational resources to accompany each exhibition. The mission of SALT Interpretation is to ensure that all students have access to forums for creative and experiential learning, open dialogue and critical thinking.
