Salt is hosting “Commons & Communities Global Architectural Exhibition”, organized by the Danish Cultural Institute Turkey and curated by In-Between Design Platform, between October 6-November 6. Featuring a selection of projects from Brazil, China, Denmark, Turkey, and the Baltic states (Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania), Commons & Communities exhibition in Istanbul probes into inclusive settings that enable collective decision making, with a focus on the “co-” culture rising across the globe.

As users become one of the determining factors informing the design processes, the very definition of “end user” has also been transformed. This democratic approach suggests a shifting perspective, from “design for” to “design with”. In this context, architects act as facilitators that provide a ground for interdisciplinary dialogues and support communities to build and shape their own environment. The projects included in the exhibition offer an insight into the function of architectural practice as an effective tool that can transform society collectively and in tune with changing global tendencies.

Realized with the support of the Ministry of Culture Denmark, Danish Arts Foundation, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Denmark, Embassy of Denmark Ankara, and in partnership with Technowood and Samsung, the exhibition will be on view from October 6 to November 6 in Workshop IV at Salt Galata.
