Archipel [Archipelago] (2021)
Director: Félix Dufour-Laperrière
Cast (Voice): Florence Blain Mbaye, Mattis Savard-Verhoeven, Joséphine Bacon
72 minutes
French, Innu-aimun; Turkish subtitles
Archipel [Archipelago] expands into a semi-fictional odyssey through filmmaker Félix Dufour-Laperrière’s native province, Québec, captured in a composition of creative animation and a partly documentary style. It offers an immersive experience, a psychogeographic meditation along the Saint Lawrence River and its archipelago of Thousand Islands. Blurring the boundaries between the real and the imagined, the poetic narrative of this animated documentary questions the role of storytelling and what makes a piece of land into a region, and a community.
Premiered in February 2021 at the International Film Festival Rotterdam, Archipel [Archipelago] was awarded a jury prize at the Annecy International Animation Film Festival the same year.
The film will be screened on Thursday, November 3 at 19.00 in Salt Beyoğlu’s Walk-in Cinema, and will be streamed online from Friday, November 4 to Sunday midnight, November 6 via saltonline.org.
This free-admission screening program takes place between November 3-December 1 in Salt Beyoğlu’s Walk-in Cinema and at saltonline.org. All films included in the program will be streamed in their original language with Turkish subtitles, and can only be accessed online by audiences in Turkey.
