Walk-in Cinema

Ha Za Vu Zu, an artist collective formed in 2005, works across diverse media ranging from performance and installation to video and design, with a focus on collaboration and exchanging ideas. The collective’s sound performance in the Walk-in Cinema will unfold as a spontaneous/unpredictable improvisation incorporating the drums, bass guitar, organ, mandolin, and theremin as well as various wind and percussion instruments. Ha Za Vu Zu will present an “absurd” interpretation of sound elements, highlighting the permeability between various disciplines and media.

This performance is commissioned as part of the exhibition The 90s Onstage. The program will take place on Friday, November 18 at 19.00 in Salt Beyoğlu’s Walk-in Cinema, and is open to everyone.

Ha Za Vu Zu is an artist collective formed in 2005 and based in Istanbul. Selected solo exhibitions include For Whom Is It Too Late Today? Between Stamp and Mars (2009) at Frac des Pays de la Loir in France and TIRGIT’ZE! – Anyone can come in (2009) at MASA Project, Istanbul. Their installations, video and performance works, and objects (books, banners, disco balls or ephemera) were featured in various platforms such as MAXXI (Rome, 2016), Whitechapel Gallery (London, 2013), UCCA Center for Contemporary Art (Beijing, 2013), TANAS (Berlin, 2012), Lyon Biennial (2009), Bovisa Triennial (2008), and Istanbul Biennial (2007).

The 90s Onstage is organized as part of L’Internationale’s Our Many Europes program.
