Performance: Heya Sound Collective
Salt Beyoğlu
December 27, 2022 19.00
Walk-in Cinema
Heya, a sonic research project and experimental ‘musicking’ collective, is performing on Tuesday, December 27 in the Walk-in Cinema at Salt Beyoğlu. The collective aims to bridge women who make sound and improvisatory music in the UK, Egypt, Lebanon, and Turkey. This event will be the first occasion bringing together all the members of the collective in person. Since 2019, members Nour Sokhon (Lebanon), Jilliene Sellner (Canada/UK), Yara Mekawei (Egypt), and Zeynep Ayşe Hatipoğlu (Turkey) have been using live networked performances and collaborative sonic works; mixing and reacting to each other’s field recordings and sonic experiments. The performance will be unveiled as a semi-improvised live sound work based on field recordings, electronics, voices, cello, and various objects.
The program is free and open to all.
