Salt is hosting the exhibition Tomorrow’s Earthquake-Resilient Cities, organized by Boğaziçi University Kandilli Observatory and Earthquake Research Institute Department of Earthquake Engineering in collaboration with Pattu Architecture.

The aftermath of the February 6, 2023 earthquakes has revealed the urgency to address the notion of “disaster” from multiple perspectives and take the necessary precautions against future earthquakes. Shedding light on the scientific background of earthquakes, the exhibition explores the planning and design principles of future cities with a focus on structural, institutional, spatial, and social aspects.

Transforming Salt Beyoğlu’s Forum area into a space for discussion, the exhibition offers an interdisciplinary approach that brings together experts, researchers, social groups, and policymakers. The project inquires into the spatial risks related to earthquakes and design possibilities for future habitation to contribute towards the planning of earthquake-resilient cities.

The exhibition is realized as part of the project Tomorrow’s Cities, supported by the UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF). Public programs accompanying the exhibition will be announced via saltonline.org and Salt’s social media channels.
