Salt and the BBVA Foundation are pleased to announce the Salt Artistic Research and Production Grant Program, geared towards artists from Türkiye who investigate contemporary social questions through interdisciplinary methodologies.

This two-year grant program will provide a dynamic space for artistic research and production, encouraging robust engagement between creative practitioners and their communities across the region. This year’s grants will support two works at the intersection of art, technology, and ecology and are open to creative practitioners from various disciplines, including visual arts, curatorial practices, design, film, video, and performance.

The Artistic Research Grant will facilitate in-depth artistic research, focusing on contemporary art and design, technology, and ecology. The use of Salt Research’s archival resources is encouraged for this research grant. The Production Grant will support an artistic production responsive to the dynamic, diverse, and evolving nature of the moving image. The scope of this grant includes traditional or expanded forms of storytelling, visual expression, and performance using film, cinema, and new media.

The application period for the 2024 edition will run from March 21 to May 12. Following the application and review process, the selected projects will be announced in early June. Each project will receive funding support of 20,000 Euros. Additionally, the program will fund a two-week residency in Spain and the opportunity to show the work or body of work the artists have produced as a result of the grant in Türkiye and Spain.

This year’s selection committee comprises Vasıf Kortun (Curator), Elvira Dyangani Ose (Director, Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona), Manuel Segade (Director, Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía), Ala Younis (Artistic Director, Akademie der Künste der Welt) together with Fatma Çolakoğlu (Director, Salt Research and Programs) and Juan Pujol Rodríguez (Assistant Director, BBVA Foundation).

The BBVA Foundation, as the corporate social responsibility of the BBVA Group, is committed to advancing society by promoting and disseminating knowledge through research-based, artistic, cultural, and scientific projects.
