Los Olvidados [The Forgotten] depicts the living conditions in 1950s Mexico City, the violent interactions among children, and their ways of coping with poverty. The film follows El Jaibo, who has recently escaped from a reformatory, as he navigates the treacherous streets in pursuit of revenge on Julián, whom he believes betrayed him.
Combining social realism with Buñuel’s unique surrealist style, Los Olvidados won the Best Director Award at the 1951 Cannes Film Festival.
The film will be screened in its original language with Turkish subtitles.
The screening is realized with the support of the Embassy of Mexico in Türkiye.
