Salt is organizing a talk and an urban walk on the occasion of World Architecture Day, celebrated annually on the first Monday of October since 1985. This year’s program, centered on “the production of public space,” explores the transformation of public spaces and their role within the city.

Public spaces reflect power dynamics and ideological stances while also taking shape through the geography, society, and culture to which they belong. As sites where spatial and political tensions intersect, they serve as stages for the ongoing reconstruction of collective memory and everyday practices, transforming into dynamic arenas that render power relations, conflicts, and negotiations visible.

Both programs will be held in Turkish. Additionally, the archive of architect Ayla Karacabey (1939-2012) will also be launched at archives.saltresearch.org. Incorporated into the Architecture Archive at Salt Research, the collection features travel photographs that highlight Karacabey’s approach to architectural observation.

Salt Research Architecture Archive is supported by Kalebodur.
