For Mithat Bey, a resident of Emniyet Apartment, Istanbul appears as boundless as the objects he has meticulously collected over the years. For Ali, the building’s concierge, it is limited to the apartment and its surroundings. When the other tenants decide to demolish and reconstruct the apartment—driven by fear of an earthquake and the desire to own a more valuable building—the paths of these two men intersect. If the building gets demolished, Mithat Bey would lose his collection, and Ali his home and his job.
Through this unexpected companionship, 11’e 10 Kala [10 to 11] captures precarious lives within the transforming urban fabric, offering a meditation on the meaning of possession, loss, and belonging.
Organized as part of Forms of Care, the free-admission screening is open to everyone. The film will be shown in its original language with English subtitles.
