Valentina e i MUOStri [Valentina and the MUOSters] (2024)
Director: Francesca Scalisi
80 minutes
Italian; Turkish and English subtitles
Set in rural Sicily near a high-profile US military base, Valentina e i MUOStri [Valentina and the MUOSters] follows 27-year-old Valentina as she navigates the tension between the desire to build an independent life and her familial responsibilities. The film unfolds through the slow rhythm of domestic routines, punctuated by visits from Valentina’s city-dwelling sister and protests against the military base’s MUOS satellite antennas, whose radiation silently permeates the landscape.
Directed by Francesca Scalisi, Valentina e i MUOStri is a delicate tale of emancipation, rooted in a ravaged yet beloved land shaped by intensive farming, wildfires, and satellite systems.
Following the Walk-in Cinema screening on Saturday, February 28 at 14.00, the film will be streamed at saltonline.org between March 1–8. Online access is limited to audiences in Turkey.
