The first guest of the One Cut series, organized as part of Salt’s long-term program Supercut, is Seb Chan, Director and CEO of ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image) in Melbourne.

Known for his advocacy for open access and open data, Chan will give a talk on time-based media collections, digital preservation, and the process of making collections public. He will share his experiences in the fields of moving image and archival work, offering insights into ACMI’s transformation as a museum focused on screen culture and the intersections of media, technology, worldbuilding, and storytelling.

This free-admission program will be held in English and is open to everyone.

Seb Chan is the Director and CEO of ACMI (Australian Centre for the Moving Image). Prior to joining ACMI, he led the digital transformation of the Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York (2011–2015), as well as the Powerhouse Museum’s pioneering work in open access, mass collaboration, and digital experience in Sydney during the 2000s. His work has received awards internationally across the museum, media, and design spheres.
