Presenting a number of recent projects Kit Hammonds will reflect on forms of collaboration, competition and confrontation enacted within his own curatorial and his teaching practice.
Kit Hammonds is a curator based in London. His exhibitions and projects explore and question the constitution of social spaces in contemporary life – from political groups to open society, collaborative play, organised leisure to public, private and community space. His curatorial practice includes creating scenarios, support structures, and platforms for artists’ activities.
His recent exhibition The Europa Triangle (2012, London) brought various models of society through works of contemporary artists into dialogue and was a part of the Goethe Institut Initiative Europe (to the power of) n. In 2004 he established Publish and be Damned (with Emily Pethick) – an informal organisation he continues to head focused on artist led publications. He is also a tutor on the Curating Contemporary Art MA programme at the Royal College of Art.
The talk will be held in English.
