Invited to talk in the context of the exhibition Hassan Khan at SALT Beyoğlu Bassam El Baroni will take the notion of antagonism as a key to enter a multidimensional discussion of Khan’s work. Antagonism has revealed itself as a real – in the Lacanian sense of the term – in many of the works the artist has produced over the years. Through an exploration of this aspect of Khan’s work the talk will delve into both the local and the universal in his artistic output, connecting his works to local cultural histories as well as the domains of psychoanalytic and critical theory.
