“In times of economic hardship and political transition a sense of permanent instability takes hold and expands into a pulverizing psychosis. You feel as if you are no more than the sum of fluid atmospheric parts, and yet paradoxically the atmosphere itself starts to also assume characteristics your internal psyche. It becomes hard to tell what is collapsing and what is coming together. Which forms, which art do we look toward to understand this fluid state of being?” Brian Kuan Wood

The Baroque of the Counter-Reformation emerges in a new light, Hassan Khan’s sculpture The Twist (2012) on view at SALT Beyoğlu, the writings of Hito Steyerl and Franco “Bifo” Berardi in e-flux journal are possible departure points.

Brian Kuan Wood is a writer based in New York. With Julieta Aranda and Anton Vidokle he is editor of e-flux journal.

The talk will be held in English.
