Workshop:
Creative Drama in Education
Salt Galata
May 11, 2013 13.00 – 16.00
SALT Galata, Workshop IV
March 9, April 6, May 11
SALT invites educators to participate in the workshop entitled “Creative Drama in Education,” which will first take place on March 9, and repeated again on April 6 and May 11. The workshop, led by dramaturg İlkay Ceyhan, will demonstrate how to use different drama techniques and strategies creatively and imaginatively in course planning.
The scope and scale of using the method of creative drama varies in formal and non-formal educational settings. A student-centered activity, creative drama aims to promote creativity, language and communication skills as well as critical thinking. Creative drama activities are not designed as solitary lesson plans; they allow for a progression from what participants naturally do to a more structured framework for learning.
SALT Interpretation aims to help educators build a collaborative student-teacher relationship, develop a creative learning process in the classroom and connect and apply coursework structures to other disciplines through the “Creative Drama in Education” workshop. By introducing new methods of teaching through creative drama, this workshop will also contribute to the educators’ personal growth and career development. The workshop is open to middle and high school teachers, art educators and teacher candidates.
The workshops will be held in Turkish and are free of charge.
Maximum number of participants: 14 people
