This month’s Long Thursday at SALT Beyoğlu includes guided tours (Turkish-English) of the current exhibitions subREAL and Taiping Tianguo at 18.00, as well as screenings of Gusztáv Hámos’ 1989: The Real Power of TV at 19.00 and Harun Farocki and Andrei Ujică’s Videograms of a Revolution at 20.00 as part of the exhibition subREAL. Hamos’ video work deals with media censorship during Communist-era Hungary. Videograms of a Revolution is a documentary film about the revolution in Romania in December 1989 and compiles amateur footage, news footage and excerpts from the Bucarest TV studio overtaken by demonstrators as part of the revolution.

Tours of the exhibition Trespassing Modernities at SALT Galata will start at 18.00 (English) and 19.00 (Turkish).

At SALT Ulus, Murat and İsmail, a film by Mario Rizzi will be screened at 17.00, 19.00 and 21.00. The film focuses on a single family-run shoemaker’s shop in the neighborhood of Beyoğlu and depicts the lives of a father and son as they experience first-hand the economic transformations ripping through the city of Istanbul.

In addition, visitors can enjoy special discounts at the café in SALT Galata and at the bookstores in SALT Beyoğlu and SALT Galata. At SALT Galata, The Ottoman Bank Museum, which reinterprets the world of the late Ottoman era and the early Republic period, and SALT Research, with its comprehensive library and archives, also remain open on Long Thursdays.
