Since 1985 Lawrence D. “Butch” Morris has been the leading proponent and practitioner of Conduction® - the practice of conveying and interpreting a lexicon of directives to modify or construct sonic arrangements or compositions in real-time. Of his composition Conduction® No. 196, Hüseyin Alptekin: “Chewing Hair,” which he will perform in SALT Beyoğlu’s Walk-in Cinema, Morris writes:
“The poetics of Alptekin’s work cannot be defined or confined to Art alone.
I have chosen to reflect my relationship to his work and the person as ‘symbolic stimulus’… To interpret how he talked about the architecture of ‘his work.’
Chewing Hair silhouettes the work against a backdrop of verbal images that we know the artist by.
A Chorus of Poets is this means and the chosen text paints the aura.”
