Inspired by the main character of Katsuhiro Otomo’s 1988 film Akira, Ömer Sarıgedik’s first major solo electronic performance narrates the dystopic journey between post-traditional and IDM genres. Creating a one-on-one connection with the character of Tetsuo, Sarıgedik shares an axis of sensory and visuality with the audience.
Since 2005 Ömer Sarıgedik works as a sound designer for theaters, contemporary art institutions, and sensory-visual media channels. He uses alternative types of sampling formed by the characteristics of noise, IDM, glitch, and abstract in DJ sets and radio programs. Sarıgedik’s first album was released in 2011 and his second as a remix by Müzik Hayvanı, his own electronic music work goes by the name “oemr.” Sarıgedik is a member of Yakaza Ensemble who play “new world music” and have their EP and second album released in Japan.
