In inauguration of the Plans for Beyoğlu workshop, taking place September 17 at SALT Beyoğlu, Stephan Petermann will discuss the issue of preservation in the context of OMA’s CRONOCAOS project, first exhibited at the 2010 Venice Architecture Biennale.

Stephan Petermann holds a master’s degree in History of Architecture and Theory of Building Preservation from the University of Utrecht (2001-2007). He studied architecture at the Technical University of Eindhoven (2001-2005) and has worked for VOLUME magazine (2005). Petermann joined OMA in 2006, assisting founder Rem Koolhaas with lectures, texts and research. He also assisted Koolhaas in the context of the EU Reflection Group, a “wise men” council of prominent Europeans advising on the future of the European Union (2008-2010). Most recently, Petermann has worked on a cultural plan for a large development in Hong Kong (2009-2010); curated the OMA Book Machine exhibition at AA Gallery in London (2010); participated in several projects on preservation including the CRONOCAOS exhibition in Venice (2010) and New York (2011); and assisted Rem Koolhaas in his teaching about preservation at Strelka (2010). In preparation for the next academic cycle, Petermann is currently organizing the curriculum for Strelka students’ study of the Russian countryside.
