Karanlıkta Uyananlar [Those Awakening in the Dark] (1964), screenplay by Vedat Türkali, is the first Turkish film to focus on strikes and workers’ rights issues in the country. Depicting the constant struggles of workers at a paint factory, the film also narrates the challenges faced by the factory’s young new owner by highlighting subjects of domestic industry and foreign capital.
Organized in parallel to the exhibition One and the Many, the screening is free. Reservations are not accepted.
