From Imaginary Media to Material Culture: What is Media Archaeology?

Organized by SALT Ankara in collaboration with Bilkent University, Parikka will be in conversation with Ahmet Gürata to discuss the themes of imaginary media, media and materiality, contemporary screen cultures.
Taking place at Ka Fotoğraf Geliştirme Atölyesi, the program will be held in English and is open to all.
Jussi Parikka works at Winchester School of Art, University of Southampton and is the author of multiple books about media theory and contemporary culture, including Insect Media (University Of Minnesota Press, 2010), What is Media Archaeology? (Polity, 2012) and A Geology of Media (University of Minnesota Press, 2015).
Ahmet Gürata is currently the acting chair of the Department of Communication and Design at Bilkent University, Ankara. He has published research on the history of Turkish cinema, cross-cultural reception, remakes and documentary in anthologies and journals.
