Salt is hosting a series of talks on jazz in Turkey and contemporary issues in music as part of the 31st Istanbul Jazz Festival.
In the first of the series, producer, composer, and musician Nino Varon, who produced Turkey’s first jazz album, Jazz Semai, will be in conversation with music writer and critic Murat Meriç. In the second session, moderated by writer Yekta Kopan, musician Beyza Doğuç, pianist and composer Ercüment Orkut, and writer Ümit Alan will discuss the practices of music-making in relation to artificial intelligence. The last talk featuring jazz musician Sibel Köse, music writer and radio producer Hülya Tunçağ, and music writer and organizer Füsun Levet will focus on the history of jazz in Turkey.
