Salt is organizing a talk and panel as part of the exhibition Notes on Air, conceived and designed by the interdisciplinary design agency 2050+. The program aims to draw attention to the cruciality of air as a common and universal right, as well as the hazards and threats associated with air pollution.
The program will start with a conversation between Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli and Kamil Dalkir from 2050+ about the exhibition and the agency’s practice. The talk will be followed by a panel discussion, moderated by Eylül Şenses from Salt and featuring Erica Petrillo (2050+), Melek Türker Saçan (Boğaziçi University), and Melike Yavuz (Right to Clean Air Platform). Focusing on the themes raised by the exhibition, the discussion will bring together the perspectives of science, activism, and artistic practices. The program will be held in English and is open to everyone.

Kamil Dalkir is a researcher, architect, and curator. He received his PhD in Architecture from the Royal College of Art in 2023, with his doctoral thesis focusing on the law and architecture of forced migration, particularly the financial nature of humanitarian governance and its extractive capacities. His practice revolves around model making, moving images, and storytelling methodologies as forms of evidence production. Before joining 2050+, he worked in international design studios such as Balmond Studio and Studio Fuksas and at various exhibitions, including the 2019 Sharjah Architecture Triennial.
Ippolito Pestellini Laparelli is an architect and curator whose work encompasses technology, politics, design, and environmental practices. He is the founder of the interdisciplinary agency 2050+. Laparelli curated Open, the Russian Federation Pavilion at the 17th Venice Architecture Biennale (2021), and co-curated The Planetary Garden. Cultivating Coexistence, Manifesta’s 12th edition (2018) in Palermo. Between 2007 and 2020, he worked as an architect and partner at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA), where his work focused on research, curation, scenography, and preservation. In 2023, he served as the jury president at the 18th Venice Architecture Biennale. He has taught in various academic institutions, and his work has been shown and published internationally in various media, festivals, and exhibitions.
Erica Petrillo is a curator and researcher with a background in political philosophy and social sciences. She collaborates with the interdisciplinary agency 2050+ and works on several independent projects in parallel. She has curated public programs and exhibitions for various cultural institutions in Italy and abroad. Before joining 2050+, she worked at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York, where she was responsible for the series of monthly R&D Salons; co-curated Broken Nature, the XXII Triennale di Milano in 2019; and was the 2019-2020 curator-in-residence at the Jan van Eyck Academie in Maastricht.
Melek Türker Saçan is a professor at Boğaziçi University, Institute of Environmental Sciences, where she founded the Ecotoxicology and Chemometrics Laboratory. Formerly, she was an associate professor at Istanbul University (2000-2002). She has served as the Executive Council Member for the Institute of Environmental Sciences (2002-2005; 2006-2009; 2024-present) and the Head of the Environmental Science Division (2014-2015). Her research focuses on the monitoring of pollution levels in a local lake using water, sediment, and fish samples. She is an editorial board member of the international journal SAR and QSAR in Environmental Research.
Melike Yavuz graduated from Ankara University Faculty of Medicine in 2004 and received her title as a Public Health Specialist from Kocaeli University Faculty of Medicine in 2011. Yavuz has been a faculty member at Bahçeşehir University Faculty of Medicine since 2017. She is an active member of organizations such as the Association of Public Health Specialists (HASUDER) and the Turkish Medical Association (TTB) and engages in environmental health advocacy efforts. Since 2018, she has been involved in the Right to Clean Air Platform, representing HASUDER. Her research focuses on the complex effects of air pollution and climate change on human health.
Eylül Şenses is a programmer at Salt. She completed her BA in the Faculty of Architecture at Middle East Technical University in 2015 and her MA in the Architecture and Urban Studies Program at Kadir Has University in 2020. She is a member of the urban studies cooperative Urban.koop.
