Thursday Cinema “at Home” begins on September 24 at saltonline.org. With a selection of feature-length films from Tehran to Tallinn, Lisbon to Beijing, Berlin to New York, Hong Kong to Luanda and Winnipeg, the online screening program aims to highlight the vibrant urban culture movements that transform the city, its rhythm and its norms.

Unfolding the throbbing streets, where people from all walks of life come together, the ten fiction and documentary films pursue the impact of urbanization in neighborhoods, the demands for a just future, and the struggles of individual and communal existence. Focusing either on a megalopolis famous for its skyscrapers, a city inflicted by civil war, or a remote settlement lagging behind the speed of technology, the program explores how public spaces gain new identity, purposes, and expressions with the influence of
stirring yet complex street cultures.

All films included in the Thursday Cinema “at Home” program will be streamed in original language with Turkish and English subtitles, and will only be accessible to online audiences in Turkey.

SALT’s Thursday Cinema has been supported by Garanti BBVA Mortgage since 2014.
