Haşmet is the son of a wealthy family from Istanbul. After selling the family’s seaside mansion and depleting his inheritance, he becomes a traveling photographer. Ayşe has arrived in Istanbul with the dream of becoming famous. Chasing after her dream, she sits across from Haşmet to have her picture taken for a competition. After their encounter on the street, Haşmet opens up his life and his home to her.

A dark comedy about a man who has been unable to keep up with the years and a woman who is after the fake promises of Istanbul, Ah Güzel İstanbul [Oh, Beautiful Istanbul] highlights the social structure and cultural conflicts of the time.

Organized in parallel to the exhibition No Further Records: Reşad Ekrem Koçu and Istanbul Encyclopedia Archive, the screening is free of charge and open to all.
