A Morte de uma Cidade [Death of a City] (2022)
Director: João Rosas
116 minutes
Portuguese; Turkish subtitles

In the heart of Bairro Alto, a central district in Lisbon, an old printing workshop is demolished to make way for luxury apartments. Witnessing this demolition in the wake of the financial crisis and the ensuing real estate and tourism boom, Portuguese director João Rosas captures the city’s ever-changing landscape through the daily life of the construction site and those who work there.

Rooted in the director’s relationship with his hometown, the documentary film weaves together individual stories of labor and immigration while shedding light on the violence and destruction that hide under urban progress.

The film will be screened on Thursday, October 10 at 19.00 in the Walk-in Cinema at Salt Beyoğlu, as part of the World Architecture Day program realized with the support of Kalebodur.

Limited seats. No reservations.
