Water and Power, explores the complex relationship between water and urban development in Los Angeles. Through techniques such as time-lapse photography, superimposition, and motion-controlled tracking shots, this experimental film visually depicts the transformation of natural landscapes into industrialized environments.
Winner of the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary at the 1990 Sundance Film Festival, the film delves into industrialization, the environmental impact of human expansion, and the tensions between water rights and political power. It reveals how water consumption has shaped the urban fabric and social structures in a region facing widespread desertification.
