Le Château [The Castle] (2020)
Director: Denys Desjardins
75 minutes
French; Turkish and English subtitles
Madeleine Ducharme has spent the last five years living at Château Beaurivage, a retirement home in Montréal. Surrounded by a familiar rhythm of visits, conversation, and community, she has carved out a space of comfort—until signs of cognitive decline force a difficult transition.
Filmmaker Denys Desjardins, Ducharme’s son, creates an intimate portrait of aging through the lens of personal memory and loss. Capturing the emotional complexity of growing old, the film reflects on how autonomy and familial love shift within institutional settings.
Organized as part of Forms of Care, the free-admission screening is open to everyone. The film will be shown in its original language with English and Turkish subtitles.
