SALT Beyoğlu, Walk-in Cinema
The third performance of Expeditions in Sound and Music, a collaborative series between SALT and Undomondo, will feature Lucky Dragons. The program will take place in the Walk-in Cinema at SALT Beyoğlu on Wednesday December 5 at 19.00 and is open to all.
Lucky Dragons is an ongoing musical collaboration between Los Angeles-based artists Sarah Rara and Luke Fischbeck, known for their participatory approach to making music and live performances that embrace spontaneous audience interaction. They encourage a shared experience and redefine the relationship between band and audience as they include the audience in the creation of sounds through the use of technology.
Fischbeck and Rara have presented interactive performances and installations in a wide range of contexts, including the Whitney Museum of American Art (as part of the 2008 Whitney Biennial); Centre Georges Pompidou, Paris; Walker Art Center, Minneapolis; ICA, London; The Kitchen and PS1 in New York; LACMA and MOCA in Los Angeles; the 54th Venice Biennale, as well as the Hirshorn Museum and Sculpture Garden, Washington D.C., among others.
Named after a Japanese fishing boat that was the symbol for worldwide anti-nuclear sentiment in the 1950s, Lucky Dragons’ music has been described by Artforum as “ecstatic music that completely transcends genres… attempts to describe what their music actually sounds like always fall short of the magic they are making.”
The performance is free.
