French Levantine architect Alexandre Vallauri designed the original building of Salt Galata to house the headquarters of the Imperial Ottoman Bank, which opened in 1892. The building is unique in Istanbul for the striking contrast between its neo-classical and neo-orientalist architectural styles on opposite façades.

With its unique location overlooking the Historical Peninsula, architectural features, and technical facilities, Salt Galata offers institutions a distinctive venue for local and international meetings, press conferences, launches, receptions, and other events.
