L’Internationale

L’Internationale is the confederation of major European museums, art institutions, and research centers. 

L’Internationale proposes a space for art within a non-hierarchical and decentralized internationalism, based on the values of difference and horizontal exchange among a constellation of cultural agents, locally rooted and globally connected.

The confederation brings together 13 institutional partners—HDK-Valand (Gothenburg, Sweden), the Institute of Radical Imagination (Naples, Italy), MACBA (Barcelona, Spain), M HKA (Antwerp, Belgium), MSN (Warsaw, Poland), MSU (Zagreb, Croatia), Museo Reina Sofía (Madrid, Spain), NCAD (Dublin, Ireland), Salt (Istanbul, Turkey), tranzit.ro (Bucharest, Cluj, and Iaşi, Romania), Van Abbemuseum (Eindhoven, the Netherlands), VCRC (Kyiv, Ukraine), and ZRC SAZU (Ljubljana, Slovenia)—alongside three associate partners: IMMA (Dublin, Ireland), MG+MSUM (Ljubljana, Slovenia), and WIELS (Forest, Belgium).

L’Internationale’s principal funder is the Creative Europe program of the European Union. Following the projects The Uses of Art (2013–2017) and Our Many Europes (2018–2022), the confederation is currently undertaking Museum of the Commons, launched in 2023 and running through the end of 2026.
